MONTEGO BAY YACHT CLUB
VISITOR INFORMATION
LOCATION
The Montego Bay Yacht Club is located on the Freeport Peninsula with berthing in the protected basin that forms the Montego Bay Harbour. General office opening hours are from: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
BERTHING
Berthing facilities consist of a finger pier with a T-head. Water depth varies from 6 to 20 feet. Boats are berthed stern-to on either side using their own anchors. Dock rates are listed below.
Boats may also anchor in the basin off the Club. There is a daily charge for use of the Club facilities.

DOCK RATES FOR VISITING YACHTS
1 - 30 days US$ 1.25 per ft. per day (mono hull)
US$ 2.50 per ft. per day (catamaran)
30 days & over US$ 0.90 per ft. per day (mono hull)
US$ 1.80 per ft. per day (catamaran)
Boat at Anchor US$ 10.00 per person per day
All above rates are subject to additional General Consumption Tax (GCT)
ARRIVAL
Call the Montego Bay Yacht Club on VHF Channel 16 for contact on arrival.

After berthing register at office (normal office hours only). The Office will call Customs and Immigration to have you cleared at the Club.
Note:
-
There is NO CHARGE for clearance of vessels during normal business days, between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

EXCEPT - There is an additional charge of US$80.00 per vessel after 4pm on normal business days, and US$150 per vessel for CUSTOMS on Saturdays, Sundays, and Jamaican Public Holidays.
The following persons do not need a visa: - persons with EU, Commonwealth, USA & Canadian passports. Everyone else should check http://www.jaconsulatecayman.org/upimages/ckeditor/2_ja.pdf.
Do not leave your boat or the MBYC until you have been cleared by all government agencies.
All vessels should be equipped with holding tanks.
WATER AND FUEL
Water and diesel are available along the MBYC pier. Gasoline is also available. If you require over 2,000 gallons of diesel, please order ahead of time. Jamaican water is safe to drink from the tap.
RESTAURANT
The club's restaurant is open for lunch & dinner, seven days per week 10 am - 10 pm (for last orders).
CHARTERS
Information on fishing & sailing charters available.
BAR
The bar is located in the Club House and is open 7 days a week. A pool table is located in the bar area. Children under 16 are not permitted in the bar area. Please request large ice orders from the bar by the evening before needed.
HOUSE RULES
Bare chests and bathing suits are not permitted in the bar or in the Club Rooms. The dress code is casual - shorts slacks etc.
LAUNDRY
Laundry service is available at the MBYC. Arrangements may be made with the office.
WEATHER
Weather information is available from the Airport Authority at Montego Bay's Sangster International Airport - Tel: 952-O181.
There is also the Weather Channel on the T.V. in the Clubhouse.
DEPARTURE
Twenty four (24) hours before departure, notice of clearance should be given to MBYC office, which will arrange Customs and Immigration requirements.
PROVISIONING
Groceries and liquor are available at the nearby Fairview, Westgate and Mega Mart Shopping Centers. Fast food, electronics, pharmaceuticals, hardware and other items can be found at the Fairview Shopping Center. There is also a large fruit and vegetable market located in the heart of Montego Bay.
BANKS
The Bank of Nova Scotia is located at the Fairview Shopping Center. Alternative ATM options are also available in the same area.
RESTAURANTS
Montego Bay offers a variety of restaurants, many of which offer a free pick up service. Please check with the Club for their assistance on this.
TAXI SERVICE
The office or bartender will be happy to assist with arranging a taxi, should one be required.
AIRPORT
Montego Bay is serviced by Sangster International Airport. Normal time by car to the airport is half an hour, but allow longer at peak times.
SECURITY & POLICE SERVICES
Boats are encouraged to secure items that could easily be removed. Minor theft can be prevented by removing temptation.
The Freeport Police Station is located less than one mile away, at the enterance to the Freeport area.
